Introduction
This Course is fundamentally based on the OMRON CP1H XA40DT1-D Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) and the OMRON NS5-TQ00-V2 Human Machine Interface (HMI) using CX-One Software. This operating system and programming system is applicable to many of the OMRON range of plc’s. If is also important to know that virtually 95% of the background theory and programming methods used, whether ladder logic or structured text programming are similar for most plc’s, no matter who the manufacturer is.
These programmable devices came on the scene in the late 60’s to replace hardwired relay systems to implement sequential control. We are now at generation four of the pls’s development and many things have changed over the years but many have stayed the same also.
SYLLABUS
- The hardware structure of a plc-controlled system. The subsystems and the hardware/software required to produce a used friendly effective controller for open loop and closed loop applications.
- Number systems, digital and analog signals, input and output systems, protocols and communications standards used in modern plc systems.
- Boolean Logic circuits and the equivalent Ladder Logic representation. Formulation of ladder diagrams for a particular electrical sequence control specification.
- The IEC61131-3 standard for plc programming.
- The CP1H Memory Map.
- Creating and testing programs using ladder logic.
- Compiling, downloading and running the programs on the control rig.
- Creating and testing graphical interface programs for the NS5 HMI.
- Downloading and testing interacting programs between the HMI and the PLC.
